I spent the years that I'd consider formative for my life in Paris. And even though I had a love-hate relationship with that city while I was there, the three years I spent in Paris were probably the best years of my life.
Anyhow, in front of my place in Paris there was a Cadillac Allante. It was the first Allante that I'd ever seen in person and about as rare a sight in Europe as a Koenigsegg or Bugatti would be anywhere else. The owner was French-Algerian with a knack for American cars and he was one of the first people I befriended upon arriving in France. Because I showed such interest in his car, he took me out for a ride around all of Paris.
What does this have to do with anything? Nothing really. But what happened in Paris on wednesday made me incredibly sad and furious. It just hit very close to home. So I looked at old pictures of my time there and the first image that popped up was one I took of the Allante and all those memories came back. Fuck everything! Here's a Cadillac Allante!

whats great was GM gets pininfarina to pen them a beautiful and modern (remember this is the 80's, good ol' malaise era GM). then they take the lines and look of this 2 door convertible and turn it into the 4th gen Seville. arguably the best looking american car of the 90's.
whats sad is that GM thought this could compete with the same era mercedes SL. still not sure how they thought a FWD with, I'm sorry I know people love the 4.9, but a rather lazy engine, would compete with a RWD with much punchier v8's. And they asked 50k for it! sigh..

I really want one too. Always thought they just looked awesome. There is a small mom and pop carlot in my town that has two of them. Only problem is that want a pretty penny for one and a kings ransom for the other.
